Project Brief:
The Mahila Panchayats offer a community -level, women-directed redressal mechanism
that provides counseling, arbitration and support on legal issues to grassroots
women. When possible, disputes are resolved at the Panchayat-level. If necessary,
Mahila Panchayats provide referrals and support in contacting the police, attorneys
and/or the courts. This program offers crucial support and advocacy directly from
her community peers to women experiencing injustice
